Im in the mood for some skullies, and I came across the most adorable felt skulls that are hand embroidered to look like day of the dead sugar skulls. So I thought this would be a good and quick way to get my skull fix! This is an easy swap. You will make a felt skull and decorate it to look like a day of the dead sugar skull. That simple. You can embellish with paints, embroidery, felt applique pieces, anything that works to make it look like a sugar skull! Skulls should be at least about 6 inches, just to provide with everyone with a basic size, but bigger is fine too! Because this is a light swap, it IS INTERNATIONAL. You will have 2 swap partners. There are no actual directions for this. But check out Felt Sugar Skulls on Flickr. There are some beautiful examples. Please have a swap rating of 4.8. Newbies welcome with complete profiles. i wasn't so sure what a sugar skull was and then my sister made my blythe a tiny dress out of sugar skull print and it it so great!

There is no website, but a search on flickr of Felt Sugar Skulls shows a good amount of brooches, magnets, and other sugar skull designs for these. As long as your skull is done out of felt and has the markings of a sugar skull, the rest is up to you. Make a pin, a brooch, an ornament or something else useful for your partner. Just have fun and GO CRAZY!

and there is no tutorial... those were created for a show (and I sell them in my Etsy shop) and I'd really prefer that people not copy my exact design - but interpret them in your own way please!!

I had never heard of Felt Sugar Skulls but they are so cute!....I wish I was not signed up for so many swaps right now and I would definitely participate. Hopefully you will host one again and I can join then ...good luck with the swap!
