Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:

Hebrews Chapter 13 (The Key Passage is Hebrews 13:2)

In this day of “stranger danger,” it seems unusual to read that we should welcome strangers. Let’s examine what this might look like in our lives! Do you host a community group in the house God has given you? Do you offer missionaries or others in need a room in your home for a short-term or even long-term stay? Do you speak to people when you are at the grocery store and offer a smile? Do you give up the close parking space or the last ice-cold soda so that someone else may enjoy it? Any or all of these could be classified as welcoming a stranger? You never know when you might be welcoming an angel instead of a mere man. Abraham and Lot are just two men of the Bible who welcomed angels unawares. God rewards those who perform simple acts of kindness. Our heavenly Father days that when we serve even the lowliest among us, we are serving Him. (Matthew 25:40)

How do you welcome the stranger? What does this look like in your life?

How might someone act differently if he or she were aware that a stranger was indeed an angel?
